Experience and Specialized Training:
I have a specialty in working with children, children with special needs and adolescents. For over 7 years I have had hands on training in an inclusion setting and education setting. I have attended parenting workshop trainings focusing on co-parenting and working with challenging teens. I attended the Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference in Anaheim California in 2010 focusing my workshops on couples therapy, depression, anxiety, Mindfulness Therapy, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, child therapy and family theory.
My Treatment Approach:
I tend to draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches that can include play therapy, art therapy, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, self-guided therapy, and/or systemic and emotion focused therapy depending on the unit of treatment. I feel that each client has their own needs and I take that into consideration in the treatment room and how I work with each client. I assess the need for treatment and what theory best fits each of my clients. In some cases I use eclectic therapy when I see that my clients need a plethora of approaches to address the issue.
I believe that each of my clients deserves respect, nurturing, understanding, care, follow through and a therapist who supports and advocates for their needs. A therapist is important in educating their clients on change and other services out there that can assist and be in conjunction to the counseling process. I set an environment of confidentiality and professionalism in order for my clients to feel safe in the therapy process.
